Robert Reffkin founded Compass in 2012, drawing inspiration from his mother, Ruth, a longtime real estate agent. He saw the pride she took in helping her clients navigate one of the most important transactions of their lives, but also the struggle of growing her business because she didn’t have the right tools or support to realize her potential.
Robert vowed to create a company that would do better for agents like his mom. He founded Compass to better serve the nearly 2 million agents in the U.S. and provide agents with everything they need to serve their clients, grow their business, and realize their entrepreneurial potential, all in one place.
Ruth is now a proud Compass agent having some of the best years of her career while in her mid-70s.

Robert holds both a B.A. and M.B.A. from Columbia University, and his professional background includes roles at McKinsey and Goldman Sachs, along with a tenure as a White House Fellow.

Ori Allon
Founder & Chief Strategist
Ori Allon is a technologist and entrepreneur whose background includes serving as Director of Engineering at Twitter, founding Julpan which was acquired by Twitter, and founding Orion which was acquired by Google.
Ori earned his PhD in computer science at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
Neda Navab
President of Brokerage
The proud daughter of a real estate agent, Neda is focused on bringing Compass’s mission to life across the United States.
Prior to Compass, Neda was the Director of Urban Systems at Sidewalk Labs, the division of Google focused on building smart cities. Neda started her career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co and earned her MBA from Harvard Business School.
Rory Golod
President of Growth & Communications
Rory joined Compass in 2014 and currently serves as the President of Growth and Communications.
Prior to his current position, he held various roles across the company including chief of staff to Founder and CEO Robert Reffkin. Before coming to Compass, Rory worked in Global Analytics for Bloomberg LP and Operations & Strategy at Yext, Inc. (NYSE: YEXT).
Shay Artzi
Chief Technology Officer
Shay oversees technical design, architecture, and delivery of Compass’s technology platforms, as well as Security, Compliance, Technical Infrastructure and Enterprise Technology.
With 25 years of experience, his background is in building software and leading engineering teams at companies like Amazon and IBM.
